GIG ONE

If you’re a firm believer it is only Women who are blessed with the efficient art of multi-tasking, one-man band THEPETEBOX will prove you wrong layer by immaculately arranged layer at Nottingham Contemporary on April 13th for the live screening of his debut album ‘Future Loops’. Shunning the normal musician’s tool of traditional instruments in favour of more personable assets, THEPETEBOX takes a slightly more unorthodox approach to his art and crafts his music using a combination of raw vocal chords and a loop pedal, guiding his audience through a range of genres on a journey through sound. Having supported the likes of The Human League and drum ‘n’ bass giants Pendulum, you’ll be as perplexed as you are in awe after watching this definition of raw talent showcase a diverse range of clips from his long-awaited debut album. This is an exclusive event with limited tickets, don’t miss out!

Long time audio visual collaborator (and Nottingham Director legend) Simon Ellis joins THEPETEBOX to talk through his vital contribution to the project that has produced videos that have gained over a million views on You Tube.

GIG TWO

Spontaneous acapella beatboxing not your thing? On April 12th indie four-piece HARLIKINGS are ready to set the Red Room of Rescue Rooms on fire with their catchy pop-punk riffs and jazzy hooks – initially what some might think is an unusual combination, but HARLIKINGS manage to stylishly weave these genres together with ease to create unashamedly uplifting tracks. Having gained a podium finish at last year’s FUTURE SOUND OF NOTTINGHAM comp, HARLIKINGS are sounding better than ever and their debut headline gig will show you what they’re really made of. If you like the sound of that, watch our Nusic FUTURE SESSION with them HERE.

GIG THREE

Describing themselves as ‘The secret love-child of Led Zeppelin, Pendulum and Pink Floyd’, progressive-rock powerhouse DEATH BY ORCHESTRA are ready to rock your world at The Old Angel on Sunday 15th April. Following last year’s release of their ep ‘The Stars Aligned and Created a Monster’, the band provides a refreshing take on a long neglected genre fusing catchy melodies with dark atmospheric undertones that are set to shake the stage.

Support comes from local boys FLAMING FIELDS. Relative newbies having only formed in early 2011, the band provide fun, upbeat tunes reminiscent of Indie bands such as The Subways and early Blur. Throw a bit of Ska into the mix and there you have it – the recipe for gig perfection!
