As another seven days have passed, we’ve got another awesome set of gigs for the Nottingham music scene. This week sees an Alternative love fest, an Christmas hometown show/EP launch, and some early Indie crimbo celebrations!

GIG ONE

Kicking off our Top Three this week we have Notts in a Nutshell on Monday night at The Maze.

Band members Leman, The Caveman, Rizzo and Jacs the Anima from BAD RAPTOR will bring to the stage something zesty and zainy that they claim will get your ‘Blood pumping and your testicles quaking’ whatever that means… also inspired by Mahatma Gandhi these crazy cats put on a unique show thats definitely worth a watch!

Next up is three-piece indie rock band from St.Anns THE CHASE. They were first established in 2007 when the boys started rocking the local open mic circuit and then getting up for school early the next day – Pure Rock n Roll! Get ready for Brothers Tyler, Dion and mate Luke as they bring a collective of Indie originals inspired by the likes of Oasis and The Beatles.

Then the lads from SAME STREETS will bring to the stage a catalogue of infectious tunes that you just can’t help but bop along to. For just a three-piece the group delivers an explosion of sound, high-energy and memorable hooks. They have a proper knock for a catchy melody, and they’ll be spinning round your head for days!

Headlining the show are the Beeston boys from FUSOR! Portraying themselves as a ‘Rock quartet who write music to make you dance and think’ these boys know how to combine raw, energetic sounds with something melodic and meaningful. Get ready for some Alt/Indie/Garage infused tunes and pure festival vibes!

Anna Heery will also be performing.

Price: £3
Doors: 7.30pm

GIG TWO

This Friday at the Rock City Basement get ready for an explosion of sound as local Thrasher’s INCINERY play their hometown Christmas show. After the release of their album ‘Dead, Bound and Buried’ last month the group gained acclaim from Global Thrash Assault who described the album as ‘Addictive as it is intense and is mandatory listening for anyone that calls themselves a metalhead.’ So expect some fast, aggressive riffs, face melting solos, drudging bass lines and a voice characterized as being ‘Barked out of a machine gun like tirade of aggression’ so why not get festive in Thrash Metal fashion?..

Kickstarting the event into gear are metal band CHRONICLES who’ll be playing their debut live performance and THE FIVE HUNDRED who are the only band we know that call themselves ‘Balls-to-the-wall metal’. Also on the night local metal enthusiasts WE ARE TYRANTS will be raising the roof with some fast cutting riffs with a refined melodic edge as well as the launch of their E.P ‘We Can Rise.’ Get ready for an adrenaline rush and some serious head bangin’!

Price: £6 ADV
Doors: 6.30

GIG THREE

As its closing in on Christmas The Maze will be putting on a Rock n’ Roll Crimbo Shindig complete with mulled wine, mince pies and some top Indie bands to warm you up this Friday!

Opening the evening is the high-energy and raucous VANITY BOX delivering some guitar-laden rock with attitude to get you in the party mood this weekend! Followed by new kids on the block INSULTANA bringing some classic alternative rock to get your feet moving. Also taking the stage is rock duo James Morgan and Matt Rogers of BLIND THIEVES who like to opt for a ‘less is more’ approach with some minimal drum and guitar based rock anthems. Then THE MITHERED will bring a more traditional Indie sound to the evening with some catchy hooks, infectious choruses and honest songwriting style inspired by the likes The Strokes and The Stone Roses, and headlining the evening are the cool chaps with the unique name. Get ready for the catchy sounds BAYBO SQUAYBO as they deliver some sweet soundscapes and memorable riffs to round off the evening.

P.S This Tuesday sees RONIKA support 80’s Pop heroes The Human League at the Royal Concert Hall. This would have been a Top Three gig, had tickets not been £32, and the fact it’s nearly sold out. Anyone who has the pleasure of going though, you’re in for a right treat. To hear Selectadisc over TRCH sound system, that’s gonna be pretty special!
