GIG TWO

This Friday, local boys PRACTICAL LOVERS will be celebrating the release of their third single ‘No Reply’ at The City Gallery. With support from four other home-grown bands, this promises to be a night of Notts-tastic fun not to be missed.

JOHN MARRIOTT
First up and ready to make you laugh is JOHN MARRIOTT. Juxtaposing brutally honest lyrics against a poppy guitar, his deadpan humour is delivered with a noticeable Nottingham twang. Oozing charisma on stage, be sure to get there early to catch his set.

AGGRESSIVE BEN
Forget the crappy weather we’ve been experiencing and immerse yourself in the sunny music of AGGRESSIVE BEN. Contrary to what his stage name may suggest, Ben Davis’ music will have you gently bopping to his cheery tunes. Twee ukulele, lilting vocals and catchy melodies, AGGRESSIVE BEN will bring some much needed sunshine to the event.

THE WICKETS
Hoping to burst some ear-drums are five-piece THE WICKETS. Since releasing their second LP ‘Big Animals’ back in 2010, the band have since relentlessly toured across the UK and Europe notching up fans along the way. Big, loud and full of energy, prepare to be rocked by THE WICKETS.

LIBRARY MUSIC
Don’t let the name fool you, LIBRARY MUSIC are by no means suitable for said location. Intricate guitars layered above melodic basslines and ‘words on clouds’ are tied together by the gruff vocals of Joe Hardy creating a whirlwind of guitar-driven goodness. Melodic rock at its best, LIBRARY MUSIC are for anyone who loves a good ol’ mosh.

PRACTICAL LOVERS
Headline act are the masters of melancholy PRACTICAL LOVERS. Describing themselves as ‘heartache and introversion for the bedroom generation’, their lovelorn lyrics, 80’s drum loops and punk-infused bass lines are completely intoxicating and will have you hooked from the start. With new single ‘No Reply’ harnessing the melodic power of the likes of Joy Division, PRACTICAL LOVERS are for fans of 80’s indie fused with electro pop. Miss it and miss out!
