Happy April! You’re gonna need some awesome Notts music to distract you from the ever-changing weather. Lucky you then – there’s a live showcase at Rough Trade, a headline show at The Chameleon and a launch party featuring some cockles (yes, cockles) at The Angel.
FRIDAY
Phlexx Records are showcasing some of their favourite talent at Rough Trade this Friday, including;
BENJAMIN ZIEC and the RAREBREEDS will have their debut performance together. Fronted by producer TREKKAH and featuring members of THE AFTERDARK MOVEMENT, we’re told to expect a unique blend of Folky-Blues.
DAISY GODFREY’s incredible vocal is filled with layers of Pop, Jazz and RnB. Her tone can make even the saddest of lyrics feel uplifting with the help of guitarist Ryan.
HASHTAGOBI dropped his debut album in January and it’s like nothing you’ve heard before. The album takes you through uni life, from student loans, going out and generally not wanting to adult, all over some insanely catchy beats.
ONKAUR released her debut EP ‘First Run’ late last year filled with a mix of Pop, RnB and hints of Soul and Reggae. Hopefully we’ll get to hear some new originals on Friday night.
Tom Gourlay from Derby is also performing.

SATURDAY
THE VARLETTS will be headlining The Chameleon this Saturday. The trio only formed last year but have already built a following and released their first single. The b-side is a bit Libertines-y, ‘Accused of Effeminacy’ – imagine Pete Doherty trying to say that.
SUPER FURNITURE are supporting. The four-piece are ready to headbang the life out of the place, expect heavy guitar riffs and anthemic choruses. They’ve just been in the Future Session studios, so keep your eyes (and ears) out for that.
CAMERON SINCLAIR HARRIS is back again at his favourite venue after his EP launch the other week. The Beeston boy spent a year writing and recording his EP ‘Grey Matter’ and is filled with both emotion and ‘fuck yous’ to the government.
Papayer from Derby are also supporting.

There’ll be a whole load of musicians playing including Hucknall’s finest rock n roller CONNOR SPRAY, front man of THE RUFFS,. Plus one of Nottingham’s finest beatboxers MOTORMOUF, whose performance will mesmerise you. On top of that – there’ll also be a bunch of DJ’s and other unique performances.
