We have yet another killer week for the Nottingham music scene! The next seven days sees an EP launch, an album launch, and a sweet mix of local talent!
GIG ONE
Kicking things off this week we have GEORGE HOLROYD’S EP launch at The Bodega on Friday. Many of you will be familiar with George, as he’s an incredibly talented musician, who has made quite a name for himself around Notts with his incredibly distinctive voice and aggresive playing style. Chances are, you’ll also know we’ve been waiting bloody ages for him to actually release some material. And we can tell you peeps, the time… HAS FINALLY COME! Yup, George has gone and got himself an EP sorted, and it’s full of plenty of beautiful little Folk numbers. We will give a forewarning though, there may be a bit of blood shed at this gig…
ANYWAYS, George has also gone and brought along with him plenty of fine local talent for support! Kicking things off we have the energetic big-band sounds of CHESHIRE AND THE CAT. If there was such a word as “jazztastic”, then these guys would be the dictionary definition. Uplifting, upbeat and something else beginning with up, these guys will definitely get the party started!
Following we’ve got the beautiful sounds of MOLLY & JACK. These two deliver some of the most stunning harmonies we’ve ever heard, and there music is so cute, it just makes us feel all warm inside… awh. On top of all that cuteness, they’ve got some ridiculously catchy songs too, and a knack for winning over the crowd that none many performers have. You’ll love these guys from the second they walk on the stage.
Finally, before mr Holroyd takes to the stage, we have the angsty Oasis-esque sounds of CONNOR SPRAY. Using a mix of Acoustic and Electric guitars, Connor brings some proper Rock and Roll style sounds to the stage, and also a fair few catchy melodies too.
Price: £6
Doors: 7pm
GIG TWO
Next up we have Farmyard Presents at JamCafe, also on Friday!
Kicking things off we have the stunning sounds of KATE AND ALEXA. A duo who, influenced by the likes of First Aid Kit and The Staves, make some truly beautiful soft Folk, with harmonies to die for. And we’re sure they’ll kick things off to an ace start!
Following we have THE DAMN HEAVY, who bring some… well, damn heavy sounds to Jam Cafe. Only two of ‘em are popping along for this gig, but don’t worry, they’re still gonna have all the energy and kick that you’re used to. And, as the event page says, there’ll be plenty of songs about “misfortune, it is Blues after all!”
Rounding the night off we have RYAN THOMAS and (some of) his band. The Blues maestro will be playing through the entirety of his Worries & Troubles EP, the same EP that got No.1 on the iTunes Blues chart! If you’re unfamiliar with Ryan, then prepare yourself to be blown away by some truly skillful guitar work, and some proper authentic Blues vocals!
Price: Free
Doors: 8:10pm
GIG THREE
Our last gig is… also on Friday! And it’s ALRIGHT THE CAPTAIN’S album launch at JT Soar! The band will be releasing their album Contact Fix on Monday 2nd Feb, but you lucky lot get to hear it live this Fri! The band make music that they describe as “Noisy Math/Post/Jazz Rock”, which doesn’t particularly sound like it would go well together. But believe us, it does! An explosion of melodic noise will be taking over that stage, and we’re pretty sure you’ll be hooked into that album for months after thanks to this gig!
They’re also bringing Notts lads CHEAP JAZZ along to support. A band that bring some proper sick riffs, and plenty of stunning instrumentation to the proceedings. They’ve also got some pretty ace song names – seriously “Skeggy Rash Strikes Again”, what more could you ask for from a song name? Anyways, these guys are sure to set the tone just right for ATC!
Bear Makes Ninja and Knifecutter will also be performing.
Price: 8pm
Doors: Free
Yours in Love of New Music.

P.S SLEAFORD MODS play Rescue Rooms on Tuesday, but they’ve gone and sold it out! Otherwise, it would’ve been a strong contender for the Top Three. Those with a ticket are in for a proper good night though!
