This week sees even more varied musical brilliance to indulge in. From a Folky EP launch, to a bit of Rock and Reggae, to a super rammed Acoustic fest. All the music. All the fun!
GIG ONE
NICK ASLAM is launching his latest EP “Scraping for Change” this week, and to celebrate he’s throwing a launch shindig at Rough Trade, which includes a guest appearance from Scott Bugg of THE SWIINES fame.
Nick’s music is probably best described as a mash up of Folk, Acoustic, Country and Indie, oh, and very good, make sure to throw that into the mix. He’s a skilled songcrafter, managing to tell beautiful stories alongside those all important catchy melodies. Join that with the vocal talents of Scott, and you’ve got an Indie vocal powerhouse coming at ya. Unlike most RT gigs, you don’t have to buy the EP in advance to get in, but after their performance, we’re pretty sure you’ll be jumping on a copy!

GIG TWO
After a good few years away, Rock and Reggae Festival returns to the Forest Rec this weekend with a bit of help from Kemet FM!
There’s loads of big names from the world of Rock and Reggae (funny that) over the weekend – but as we’re all about the Notts here at Nusic, that’s what we’ll tell you about!
You can expect some slick Soulful Pop from the lovely man that is ROB GREEN, some multi-genre madness from those familiar fellas UNKOWN ERA, and some big-band Hip-Hop from #FSN2012 winners THE AFTERDARK MOVEMENT! BEATBOXXER EKKO AND CREW will be delivering some mouth magic (seriously, you have to see this guy live to appreciate how skilled he is!), JAH DIGGA & 2TONE will be delivering some lyrical wizardry, and LISA HENDRICKS & THE PROJECT US BAND will bring some sunshine Reggae to the sun blissed stage. KC DA ROOKEE will be blessing the stage with some positive Hip-Hop, and the CRS COLLECTIVE will be bringing their… well, collective brilliance to the festival.
Oh yeah, and it’s all free. And there’s loads of other shizzle to get yourself involved with too. So, no excuses!

GIG THREE
This Sunday the Nottingham Acoustic Gathering returns for its fifth year, which means tons of Acoustic musical goodness is heading to The Maze, all for the teeny tiny entry price of £3.
Now, when I say there’s bloody loads of acts on this gathering, believe me – THERE ARE BLOODY LOADS. So many, that a bloke who has about seven and a half jobs like me unfortunately doesn’t have the time to write about every single one whilst remaining entirely fair like we aim to here at Nusic. SO – I’m gonna talk about the headliners of each stage, and then give you a link which points you in the direction of all the musical talent in which you can indulge this Sunday.
So, who’s headlining the main room? Well technically it’s Sutton In Ashfield lads ACOUSTICA, but considering they only do covers (and we promote original songwriting here at Nusic!), the headliners are technically local supergroup UNKNOWN ERA. Compromising of a bunch of artists from loads of different musical backgrounds across the city – this lot describe themselves as “Reggae, Hiphop, Ska, Balkan, Blues, Funk & More!” And if you’ve ever seen them, you’ll know you’re in for quite the show. Considering they’re so many genres rolled into one, we reckon there’ll be some funky dance moves going off tbh!
As for the Front Bar stage, that’s being headlined by AMULET. These lads had their headline show at the Bodega just last week, and now they’re back at it again. We hear that show was rammed, and we expect no different from this. Amplified singer-songwriter vibes, with a bit of a pop touch. Just what you need to round off your weekend!
