December has had tons of massive gigs already, and this week is no different. We’ve got a headline show at The Bodega, a Christmas party with possibly the best Christmas name ever at The Contemporary, and a complete (very almost but not quite sold out) take over across three nights and two venues. Don’t ya just love Notts?
GIG ONE – Thursday, Friday & Saturday
AMBER RUN are doing a bit of a takeover towards the end of the week. They’re playing three, yeah that’s right THREE, headline shows across the week in the pretty wonderful (if we do say ourselves) city of Nottingham. After announcing two headline shows at Rescue Rooms which sold out ridiculously fast, they announced a headline show at The Bodega the night before, but then that sold out too. Thankfully for you though, they’ve just released some extra tickets for both nights at Rescue Rooms. They released their debut album ‘5AM’ in April, reaching the Top 40 and went on to play massive crowds at festivals all over the UK. Impressive stuff, ay?
Thursday sees AMBER RUN hit the stage at The Bodega. Tickets for this have sold out, so if you have one you lucky devils. You get to see ‘em all up close and personal. Thursday’s support comes from GEORGE HOLROYD who gets about a bit doesn’t he? If you don’t know about this songwriting stallion, wait until the final gig description (ooh anticipation!!). Jack Watts from Brighton will be supporting too.
Friday night sees the five-piece’s first night at Rescue Rooms. MOLLY & JACK are the Nottingham support of the evening. You get to see the RR stage explode with cuteness as well as hearing beautiful Acoustic Folk filled with harmonies that will make your heart melt. Also supporting will be Fickle Friends from Brighton.
Finally, Saturday not only gives you AMBER RUN, they’re bringing along some special guests. GEORGIE has just come the end of her headline tour ‘Following the 20 Mile Road’ which saw her play everywhere from her hometown of Mansfield and finishing at The Maze last week. After absolutely smashing their performance at Our City the other week, D.I.D will be joining AMBER RUN on Saturday night. It’s been a big couple of months for the (kinda) newly abbreviated band with the release of their EP ‘Fast Food.’ They’ve also just released a Christmas song called ‘TV Christmas’ which is a must for your musically credible xmas playlists.
Make sure you grab those few extra tickets quick!
GIG TWO – Friday
THE TANGENTS are releasing their new single ‘Fall Apart’ over at The Bodega on Friday! They released their debut EP about this time last year and have been gigging round Notts since. They’ll be sharing their Indie Rock filled with catchy choruses and refined riffs with early Arctic Monkeys kinda lyrics. You get a free ‘Fall Apart’ CD when you buy a ticket, so make sure ya get down.
CONNOR SPRAY & THE INDIABEES will be supporting on Friday. Creating Indie Rock and Roll straight out of Hucknall, these guys bring a whole lot of swagger and riffs that we’re sure will be getting sung back to them in a few years time. Yeah, they’re those kinda riffs.
HOLLY TAYLOR-GAMBLE will be sharing her ethereal vocal layered over ambient guitar. Holly hasn’t released any music yet BUT we notice she’s recorded a music video recently so hopefully you’ll be able to get your hands on her music (not that you can actually touch it, that’d be weird) pretty soon.

GIG THREE – Saturday
Under The Tree are putting on a Christmas gig to get you feeling all festive and they’re calling it Under The Christmas Tree!! Is that not just so damn clever?
Performing on the evening will be GEORGE HOLROYD. He released his debut EP ‘Peru’ earlier in the year with the title track telling a beautiful story of wanting to escape for a day using his husky voice and gorgeous guitar. Why would you wanna escape the wonderfully sunny Notts weather, ay? Either way, his stunning tunes will keep ya wanting to stay at Contempreh.
JOSH KEMP will be bringing along his acoustic guitar and loop pedal to the evening. Josh is currently raising money for Nottingham charity Framework, who help those in need of shelter, by releasing a Christmas song recorded with an entire choir. Josh has also just released a brand new single ‘Leap of Faith’ featuring MOTORMOUF. You can have a listen on the latest NMP HERE.
You can also catch MRS GREEN on Saturday. MRS GREEN started off as a stage show project last year with her very own musical and it’s beautifully barmy. She’ll be supported by her band, THE RIZZLAS, who are made up of Notts musicians you’ll probs recognise. Have a look at her Youtube page to let things make a little more sense and for a proper good laugh.
