And we’re not the only ones to notice as Tom recently had the privilege of performing at Sir Richard Branson’s very own Roof Gardens in Kensington, London last week. BIG things are happening for TOM WARDLE, catch him here while you can!

To fire up the evening, some of the very best Nottingham singers and MCs from the Community Recording Studio (CRS) will be taking the stage. Having been nurtured by Big Trev’s studio, these budding artists are set to get you all crunked up. Stepping up to the mic will be RAZOR, DANGER FLOWZ, 2TONE and more serving up a mish-mash of acoustic, RnB, Grime and Rap. With this amazing line up, you really are in for a treat!

With the combination of Dubstep, Drum n Bass, Breakbeat and a whole load of funk, OUR HELICAL MIND are guaranteed to get you two-step skanking. No samples or sequences required, these guys deliver 100% live music and following the release of their ‘Live from Dogstock’ EP last month, the hype around them is getting bigger by the second. THE AFTERDARK MOVEMENT never fail to deliver. GIG THREE

Acoustic Rooms can always be relied on to deliver a night of top notch local talent, and on Friday the 17th they’ll be teaming up with Our True Intent in association with Oxfam to bring you two stages plus an afterparty packed with Nottingham acoustic sensations. With such an enticingly good line up on the cards, this night is guaranteed to be a sell-out and is a must for any music lover.

INDOOR STAGE:

BEN HIBBERT
Armed with his acoustic and bags of soul, singer-songwriter BEN HIBBERT will be taking to the mic. With laid-back performances that showcase soulful vocals, bluesy melodies and almost percussive guitar, BEN HIBBERT is one to watch.

JIALLO JAZZ QUARTET
Bringing a little something different are JIALLO JAZZ QUARTET. A young instrumental four-piece, they’ll have you swinging and jivin’ like it’s 1955. Toe-tapping beats, brassy hooks and a natural musicianship far more mature than their years, JIALLO JAZZ QUARTET are good clean fun.

FIELDS
Bringing some guitar-pop to the Indoor Stage are local boys FIELDS. Their contagious melodies, the distinctive vocals of George Buchannan and general showmanship are all underpinned with Brit Pop influences and mark FIELDS as one of Nottingham’s up and coming Indie bands.

GEORGIE ROSE
Fresh from playing the motherflippin’ Olympics and Eden Hall this Thursday is our girl GEORGIE ROSE. Her melodious guitar, beguiling vocals and the ability to turn any crowd to awed silence have gained national recognition marking GEORGIE ROSE as a star of the future. Check out her Future Session with us HERE.

BITTER STRINGS
Having recently supported The View, it’s BITTER STRINGS‘ time to shine next. Channelling a vintage Rock ‘n’ Roll vibe with a northern twang, their stick-in-your-head-and-refuse-to-leave choruses combined with a certain on-stage swagger mark BITTER STRINGS as one of Nottingham’s top Alt-Rock bands.

SAINT RAYMOND
Having spent last weekend frolicing in a river for his latest music video, SAINT RAYMOND will be drying off and doing his thing at the Acoustic Rooms. At only 17, Callum Burrows’ songs possess the creative ability of a musician twice his age, a talent that’s had him recently signed to one of the UK’s leading management companies. Catchy indie pop at it’s very best, SAINT RAYMOND is a must see.

INDIANA
One of the hottest names in the music industry at the moment, INDIANA will be gracing the Acoustic Rooms Stage. A Future Sound of Nottingham sensation, we have never seen anyone stun the Market Square into silence quite the way that she did and no doubt her set here will do the same. With spellbinding vocals and softly soaring melodies, INDIANA is on an unstoppable path to the top.

INJURED BIRDS
Penultimate act to the Indoor Stage are bluesy folk quartet INJURED BIRDS. Signed to Notts label Denizen Records, their achingly honest lyrics, eclectic mix of instruments and various ‘plinky sounds’ are tied together by the powerful vocals of frontman Sam Kirk. Hauntingly enchanting, look out for their debut album ‘Silver Birches’ out this Autumn.

WE SHOW UP ON THE RADAR
WE SHOW UP ON THE RADAR headline this formidable line up. The fusion of multi-instrumentalist Andy Wright’s imagination and ‘the greatest anthropomorphic folk tales seen since the Brothers Grimm’, WE SHOW UP ON THE RADAR create a whirlwind of sound made up of various instruments, supremely crafted melodies and a whole dollop of surrealism. Signed to local label Hello Thor, WSUOR are easily one of Nottingham’s most exciting acts.

OUTDOOR STAGE:

GERRY TRIMBLE
Sure to kick-start the outdoor celebrations we have GERRY TRIMBLE. Taking a break from his Bastard Sons and doing his solo thing, GERRY TRIMBLE has locked on to a winning formula of observant lyrics filled with self-deprecation set against melancholy acoustic folk melodies. Endearing and entertaining, get there early to catch his set!

NICK AKAM
Nottingham’s own Punk-loving doctor-to-be NICK AKAM is next on the bill. With ‘DIY songs recorded in a DIY bathroom’, Nick is stripping down (oo-er) and showing what he can do acoustically. With lyrics brimming with 80’s punk influences and melodies akin to an early Green Day, NICK AKAM is a Notts hidden gem.

TIMOTHY SIMPSON
Soulful folkster TIMOTHY SIMPSON is next on the Outdoor Stage. Folksy fun blending lyrics filled with wit and everyday drudgery, soulful vocals and toe-tappin’ country beats, TIMOTHY SIMPSON will have you donning cowboy boots and check shirts by the end of his set. Keep your ears peeled for personal favourite track ‘The Bunker Song’ too.

JOE SLATER
Taking on the stage with just his acoustic guitar, a wealth of talent and a simply lovely voice is JOE SLATER. His folky, indie pop is a guaranteed crowd please, the social commentary of his lyrics almost Dylan-esque in their approach and are backed by melodious guitar. Having released his ep ‘In the Forest with Other Ghosts’ last year, JOE SLATER is a man on the rise!

FRAZER LOWRIE
One of the nicest guys on the Nottingham scene, FRAZER LOWRIE is next to the mic. Gifted with a lyrical prowess beyond his years, effortlessly powerful vocals and an instantly engaging stage presence, FRAZER LOWRIE is quickly becoming a staple in the Notts acoustic movement. With catchy tunes sure to win your heart, check out his Future Session with us HERE if you need further persuasion.

OPIE DEINO
Following is our fiery songstress OPIE DEINO. Having made it to the Future Sound of Nottingham finals last year, her captivating vocals and honest narrative will have the audience hanging off every word. Following the release of her ep ‘Facing Up’ back in May, OPIE DEINO has gone from strength to strength, winning over fans everywhere with her undeniable talent. You can see her Future Session with us HERE.

WILL BAILEY
Final act on the Outside Stage is ‘everyone’s favourite busker in shorts’ WILL BAILEY. A former member of Notts ska band BREADCHASERS as well as leading the infamous ARSE FULL OF CHIPS (who are well known for their naked antics), Will is going solo for this gig and fully-clothed. We think. A cheeky chappy with bags of charisma, WILL BAILEY is sure to give a performance that’ll have you hooked.

As if two stages of awesome talent wasn’t enough, Our True Intent will be holding an after-party with yet more home-grown acts!

WHITE FINGER
Still relatively new to the Notts music scene and getting ready to mosh are WHITE FINGER. Angry thrash punk rock that will undoubtedly have the room shaking from top to toe, this band are not for the faint hearted. Sure to get the after-party off to a raucous start, WHITE FINGER ‘look forward to smashing the shit out of you’.

GREY HAIRS
Despite what their name may suggest, GREY HAIRS are by no means a band suitable for your Nan. Whilst they may admit to finding the present and the future confusing and upsetting, their give-it-all-or-go-home approach to their performances are completely infectious. They also possess the ability to smash it at all venue sizes, from this year’s Dot to Dot to people’s living rooms. No doubt they’ll do the same here!

SLEAFORD MODS
The very last act of what is sure to be an amazing night are SLEAFORD MODS. Made up of two straight talking lads, SLEAFORD MODS’ no-nonsense lyrics brimming with socialistic scorn, fierce loops and rumbling bass lines are all delivered with Punk-like aggression and will provide a rousing end to the night. Look out for their latest LP ‘Wank’ available now.
