REBEL SOUL COLLECTIVE’S brand of thumping, indie, rock translates into a manic dance fiesta. The frantic synths, and pulsing dance/rock vibe sounds like Primal Scream breaking the speed limit. The hail storm of electronica with lifted samples makes it impossible not to freak out to the tunes. Imagine this twisted with euphoric vocals, drums and multiple guitars…it can’t get any more awesome can it? Oh wait it can?! Throw in cowbells and trumpets to the mix.
The early 7.20pm time slot supporting Norwegian electro outfit The Casio Kids did not stop the menacing enthusiasm. A chaotic sea of noise even got the Norwegians busting out the dance moves.
The undoubted highlight, Burn After Me, is the sort of song that can climax a party. It is almost like Bloc Party’s ugly little brother in a disgustingly beautiful way. Combining favorite anthems with chilled out numbers and even debuting new material, this band put on a performance.
The fantastic samples that were added deliciously to the mix included a classic quote from Super Hans from The Peep Show: “This is Bullsh*t! Super Hans is wrong, this is dance-your-head-off music. Without a doubt an essential Nottingham band, definitely a crucial addition to your life.
REBEL SOUL COLLECTIVE are absolute dynamite.
