S’up Comrades!
Hope you all had a good bonfire weekend! There were so many amazing gigs to choose from this week but these are our final Top 3!
ARSE FULL OF CHIPS ALBUM LAUNCH at ACOUSTIC ROOMS at The Rescue Rooms on Monday the 7th.
GERRY TRIMBLE is opening the night at Acoustic Rooms where he’s no stranger. He plays a nice mix of love songs thrown in with some angry folk songs. Oh and also a song about losing his virginity to two (yes, two!) girls. Listen out for that one.
The second act of the night are BEN AND VINNY who have an awesome musical attack of piano melodies and beatboxing. Check them out!
JODY BETTS is up next. It’s just him, his guitar and a whole lot of charisma. We love him!
STUCK IN 2ND are up next with their surfy balance of acoustic reggae. We did a session with them back in our Notts Unsigned days which you can see here. A particular favourite of ours is “Go Reggae Or Go Home” which is a big sing-a-long tune. See you down the front.
Ladies and gentleman, drum roll please because up next is ARSE FULL OF CHIPS! This is their first gig since July so beware people, it’s gonna be mad! If you haven’t seen AFOC before then be aware it’s not for the light-hearted…and you might see a willy. I am very much looking forward to this one, and yes I did say willy.
Doors: 8pm
Tickets: FREE!
Then we have the SHARP KNEES Album Launch on the 11th November at Nottingham Contemporary.
SHARP KNEES label themselves as noisy pop and have performed at both V festival and the Reading Festival in 2010 as well as being crowned champions of “Nottingham Battle of the Bands.”
The night is celebrating the release of SHARP KNEES’ brand new album “Monster Mountain” and LOVEphotography’s 1st birthday. There is also going to be wicked performances from other artists including the fabulous NINA SMITH, plus a host of super cool DJ sets…could be a late night.
Doors: 7.30pm
Tickets: FREE!
Next on the menu is the HARLIKINGS on the 12th of November at The Maze.
HARLIKINGS are a lively combo of rock, pop, indie and jazz and are without doubt a band you should go out of your way to see live – especially at this gig ‘cos they will be debuting some new songs live for the first time!
Support comes from THE AFTERDARK MOVEMENT whose grimey, hip hop flavoured vibe fused with Drum n Bass create one funky monkey of a band. We did a Future Session with them which you can check out here!
If that’s not enough to wet your appetite also featuring is Michael A Grammar and the Nottingham’s own smashing JUST JAMES.
JUST JAMES can be described in a number of ways but the best way is probably to just say they are amazingly good intense fun. A recipe of synth, beatboxing, and a stunning front girl with a stunning voice make JUST JAMES unmissable. Check out our Future Session with them here.
Doors:7pm
Tickets: £3 if you write your name on the cheaplist here.
Yours In Love Of New Music,
Danielle & Tom
