S’up Comrades!
This week is BIG.
First up on Monday (18th) there’s a lovely acoustic night at the Maze.
BRUCE MCCULLEN, a young singer/songwriter from the Great County of Notts, will entertain with his gentle melodies and soft, mesmerising voice.
Next, EMMA BLADON-JONES will provide some summer acoustic tunes that we hope encourages the sun to make a reappearance.
If acoustic and pop are your thing then MICHAEL LYNCH is the guy to check out.
Next folk/pop singer/songwriter MARC REEVES will play brilliantly written songs such as ‘Perfectly Fine’ which really show off his talent, just as he did at Market Sqaure for the FSN Semi-Finals a fornight ago!
And finally the energetic DANIEL DOBBS will combine indie, ska and acoustic to create some real happy melodies.
Next The Maze brings you Amp-Fest on Saturday (23rd).

And finally on Sunday (24th) comes the day we’ve all been waiting for – SPLENDOUR FESTIVAL.
This year is one of the most exciting years for local music at this festival. A whopping 9 acts are playing and each and every one has earnt their slot as a result of wowing us all locally over the last 12 months
Arguably one of Nottingham’s best party bands ROYAL GALA will mesmerise everyone, even the deer. Crazy hot singer Lou Barnell never fails to dress to impress and you can guarantee there will not be one person stood still.
PETEBOX has got to be the best beatboxer in Nottingham (if not the world?!), with one million hits on youtube his talent is undeniable. He mixes beats, singing, trumpets and more with just his voice and a looping machine as well as playing guitar to create some amazing songs.
WINNERS of the FSN final THE MONEY will play their indie anthems to the masses showing how they beat off so many amazing local musicians to nail the dream slot. They are opening the MAIN STAGE!! GO THE MONEY!!
DOG IS DEAD will be playing the Jagermeister Stage but get there early or risk being trampled by hordes of screaming girls. Their irresistibly catchy songs will have even the deer dancing (deer gags now two and counting) at Woollaton Park on Sunday. We cannot wait to see these again after their amazing sell-out show at Rescue Rooms earlier this year (the second biggest local music gig of the year and indeed decade after a certain FSN Final last week at Rock City, cough cough)
Another local act to hit the Jagermeister Stage is SWIMMING. Their synthy, surfy stuff will have everyone bouncing around and whether it will be sunny or not, Swimming will certainly make us all feel grand.
A year after bursting on to the Notts scene after her session with us in our Notts Unsigned days HARLEIGHBLU will also be playing, complete with her new brass section – which FYI sounds amazing. Her blazing voice will turn heads all over Woollaton Park and I dare you to resist watching. Though you’d be
stupid not to.
CECILLE GREY will be joining other local acts on the LeftLion Courtyard Stage. Their cool, folky sounds will be the perfect soundtrack to a sunny Sunday afternoon in Nottingham, so lets hope its sunny!
GALLERY 47 will also be playing on the LeftLion Courtyard Stage and trust me, you’ll know when he’s on. His unmistakable, angelic voice will sound so good ringing out over the crowd at Splendour. He will have you all in a trance.
JAKE BUGG is another local act to be playing the LeftLion Courtyard Stage. His doubtless talent has seen him get major support slots and a gig at some festival called Glastonbury (?!) so you should think yourselves lucky that he has found time for his hometown. You shouldn’t give him or any other acts we’ve mentioned a miss!
Yours in Love of New Music
Liz Riordan and Danielle Sorsby
