Throw caution to the wind this Tuesday and celebrate the middle of the week nearly being upon us (that’s a legit celebration right?) by heading over to Malt Cross to catch one of our hotly tipped new acts NOAH.
If you haven’t heard of this duo yet then you are in for a treat. Formed by close childhood friends Rebeka Whittle and Joe Baxter, their Rootsy Folk creation is emotive, clever and vibrant all in one beautifully crafted musical package. In addition, NOAH are superb performers, their sets alight with a wit and joy that is utterly infectious. Get your dancing shoes on and go see this band. Go.

If it’s a night of hardcore goodness you’re after, then The Maze this Thursday is the place for you. In the final rounds of the the Macmillan BOTBs, four Metal and Hardcore acts will be competing for your love (well actually a place at this year’s Macmillan Fest but your love will do).

Of course you’ll remember the lovingly crafted guide to which Notts acts will be playing at Splendour 2013 HERE, but if you need a little reminder then here’s a summary…
OMG IT IS FINALLY HERE! (If you could here the volume of that sentence you’d be truly blown off your chair.) Splendour 2013 is this weekend and we are ridiculously, I mean ri-di-cu-lo-us-ly excited. Filled with Nottingham talent, of which 4 are on the main stage (wowsa), this festival in Batman’s back yard (bonus) will be the weekend of the summer. Eeeek! If you can’t decide where to be at what time, have a read about our fabulous Nottingham acts to help you make up your mind, or be like a Kanga (sorry Aussies’s for beating your asses) and bop/hop your way between the lot! (did I mention there are 4 Notts acts on the main stage?!)
MAIN STAGE
Opening the Main Stage are our FSN 2013 winners THE GORGEOUS CHANS. They will kick off the show with an energy that is sure to set the mood for the weekend, imagine The Delays playing a Hawaiian beach party and you’re there. INDIANA has gone from Courtyard Stage to Main in just twelve months with a stunning vocal combined with reflective riffs and chill out beats that somehow just feel epic. Playing their first Notts gig since selling out Rock City a few months back, DOG IS DEAD and their anthemic Big Pop will be right at home on the big stage. A lad that needs no introduction, JAKE BUGG is headlining, his witty cynicism and Dylan desirability showing just why he’s one of the biggest artists in the UK. A Notts act headlining a Notts festival? Delicious.
JAGERMEISTER STAGE
The Jagermeister Stage sees FEROCIOUS DOG combining melodies reminiscent of The Levellers with fierceness worthy of Dropkick Murphys; this I guarantee will get you dancing. SAINT RAYMOND ahead of an autumn tour brings his Acoustic Indie Pop that sticks in your head and refuses to leave. Labelled as the next Jake, who knows what stage SAINT RAYMOND will feature on next year? Following his School Tour with us, ROB GREEN will be doing his thang at Splendour. One of the standouts of last year’s Courtyard Stage, I challenge you to find a more charismatic performer than ROB GREEN. KAGOULE bring a sound bigger than the three of them, so if you like Sonic Youth, eerie vocals and generally incredible performances, this is the set for you. Man I wish I was in KAGOULE…
NCN/LEFTLION STAGE
SAM JONES impressed so much at this year’s FSN, that DHP just had to snap him up to play Splendour. Opening up the Courtyard Stage, this guy has a vocal you’d be mad not to envy. There are Electro-hooks a plenty with ONEGIRLONEBOY, their Kate Bush-esque performances completely captivating . RYAN THOMAS brings the American South to our very own midlands and Nottingham’s sweetheart GEORGIE ROSE continues the vibe with her gorgeous, heart-felt Folk. INJURED BIRDS bring their ‘plinky-plonky’ instruments and the beguiling vocals of Sam Kirk, whilst JOEL BAKER will wow you with his beautifully crafted soft, soulful sound. The last act on is HARLEIGHBLU who is certain to bring her velvet voice and rare groove to the Courtyard Stage.
